TRIP TO SEMPORNA - FIRST DAY

We are back again in Semporna after 6 months and never regret to repeat this journey.  Some people asked us, 'You already went to Semporna. Why you go there again?".  Last time, I just went to one island i.e Mabul Island, but now, I would like to cover another islands that situated in Tun Sakaran Marine Park.  It consists of the islands of Bodgaya, Boheydulang, Sabangkat, and Salakan, the sand cays of Maiga, Sibuan, Mantabuan, and the patch reefs of Church and Kapikan.

Another question been asked, "Is it safe?".  I would like to stress that it is very very very very safe to travel here as the police and military are hand in hand patrolling all the islands to maintain the stability and peace.  Semporna is a gem of Malaysia.  You will totally love it!

As we are very excited to go, we hardly sleep at night.  Thus, to refresh ourselves, we bought Starbucks coffees to start up our journey.  Peeqa also rewarded herself with massage two hours before flight, she said "I'm preparing for hiking".  Yolah tu!!  Oooh, please also beware with your hand luggage limit as right now Air Asia strictly enforces cabin luggage rule of 7 kg, they will weight your bag.

Alhamdulillah, our take off were very smooth and there is no turbulence during the flight.  The total flight duration from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau is 2 hours and 47 minutes and to kill the time we slept and ate some foods.

Same bag but just different colours..

Hot choc and caramel macchiato..

Peeqa:  Awan jemput - jemput..

Tawau's view from above...

Noble Inworld had prepared airport transfer from Tawau airport to Semporna whereby it took about 1 hour and half to reach Semporna.  As per my previous post on Mabul trip, the journey from Tawau airport to Semporna quite boring because we only can see the massive of oil palm tree.  Later, we checked in at Hotel Sipadan Inn and took a rest about 1 hour to straight out our body.  We took the late lunch at Family Restaurant which is nearby to our hotel.  However, we decided this is our first and last to try this restaurant, not because of the food or service but we felt uncomfortable with one of the male staffs which kept on disturbing us.

Hotel Sipadan Inn..

Busy trying her new camera..

Tom yam and bee hoon..

Sabah is quite famous with the blue - eyed anchovies and after I read some blog, they mentioned that the blue - eyed anchovies only can be found at Tawau city.  We asked several local people and they told us that maybe we can find it at Kampung Air which is nearby to Masjid Pekan Semporna.  It took about 20 minutes to reach Kampung Air from our hotel by walking.  We have to stroll along on the market street where you can find all sorts of foods.  Even though both of us are Malaysians, due to our face features and dress up quite different with local people, we became center of attention.

Finally, we found an alley that leads to Kampung Air whereby it is considers as one of the floating villages in Semporna.  There are several shops that sell dried foods on your right and left sides.  They sell all sorts of dried foods such as dried squid, dried fish, dried cockle, dried seahorse and many more.  Just name it!  We bought some dried items such as anchovies, dried squid, dried shrimp and dried fish, however, we felt a little bit upset because there is no blue - eyed anchovies.  According to the seller, there is no supply either in Semporna or Tawau.  Dont be surprised that all the prices are cheaper than Kuala Lumpur.  In addition, some of the shoppers recommended us to buy Kerapu dried fish because it is tasty.  Really??

Sibuk beli kak...

For dinner, we ate at Thien Wang Restaurant after being recommended by local people.  They said this is the most popular and tasty restaurant.  Peeqa and I ordered prawn, crabs, veggies and siput sudu.  Marvelous bah!! The price is also cheap and we found that this restaurant being flooded by people from China and they ordered such huge of amount.  I guessed Chinese people love to eat seafood.
